Project Scope Overview

Client: Ananzi
Location: West Village, Cowboy Town, Randfontein, South Africa
Objective: Design a vibrant, eye-catching poster for the grand opening of Ananzi's new shop specializing in antique collectibles, gold, and pre-loved valuables. The shop, located in West Village Cowboytown, Randfontein, required a visually impactful poster for both in-store and online marketing.

Concept and Design Strategy:

Objective: Create a digitally striking RGB poster that emphasizes the Ananzi brand through a neon-light rendition of their logo.

  1. Logo Integration

    • Reusing Existing Assets: The client wanted to use the logo I previously designed as the primary branding element. This allowed me to seamlessly import the existing AI logo files into 3ds Max.
    • Neon Sign Theme: To make the grand opening poster stand out, I conceptualized a design where the logo appears as a neon sign, set against a nightclub-style dark background to make the colors pop naturally. Visitors can [click here to learn more about the logo design process].
  2. Visual Concept

    • Dark and Glitchy Neon Effect: Envisioned the Ananzi logo as a neon-lit sign. The logo would take center stage, glowing vibrantly against a dark brick wall, adding to the collectible, almost vintage appeal of the shop’s offerings.

2: Execution in 3D Design

Modeling and Animation Setup

  1. Scene Setup in 3ds Max

    • Imported the logo as a vector file and added an Edit Poly modifier. Converting the vector into an editable poly resulted in a jagged, glitchy effect on the logo’s fill sections, which enhanced its gritty, vintage character.
    • Textures and Lighting: Applied neon textures to the logo’s text and added backlighting to make it glow against the dark background. Modeled a few supporting frames around the neon logo and positioned a textured brick wall as the backdrop.
  2. Color and Effect Choices

    • Glitchy Look: Decided to keep the slightly distorted look created by the editable poly conversion, which added texture and depth.
    • Neon Color Pop: Employed neon pinks, purples, and blues to draw attention, in line with a dark background to amplify the colors.

3: Post-Processing and Final Adjustments

  1. Photoshop Enhancements

    • Imported the rendered image into Photoshop, fine-tuning the brightness and contrast with curve and level adjustments. This added intensity to the neon effect, making the logo glow even more vividly.
  2. Export and Delivery

    • Delivered the final poster render in high-resolution formats optimized for both print and digital platforms, ensuring the visual quality held up across various channels.

Outcome: The grand opening poster received positive feedback for its bold design and visually captivating style. Ananzi's team was pleased with the unique neon sign effect, which matched the edgy aesthetic of their new shop and aligned perfectly with their branding goals.
